What Window Replacement Costs in Fresno

Window replacement cost in Fresno: national per-window, whole-house, vinyl, patio door and labor figures from named publishers. Call (559) 354-1055.

No publisher we found gives a Fresno or California price for replacement windows. Several national guides do, and they do not agree, so each figure below carries the name of the publisher that printed it. What sets your own price is the number of windows, their size and style, the frame, the glass and how each one is installed.

Every dollar figure on this page is a national figure from the publisher named next to it. None of them is a quote from us, and none is a Fresno or California figure. The publishers disagree, sometimes by a lot, so each one is shown on its own instead of being mixed into one range. Fresno jobs also have to meet California's Title 24 energy rules, and local labor, the frame, the glass and the condition of each opening move the price. Figures read in October 2026.

How much does window replacement cost?

Most national guides put the average replacement window between about $500 and $850 installed, but each guide lands somewhere different. This Old House gives an average of $517 per installed window. Angi says $750 per window. Modernize says $753. Fixr says $800. HomeAdvisor says $850. None of these is our price.

How much does it cost per window?

A single window can cost from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand, depending on size and type. HomeAdvisor's range is $300 to $2,100 per window. Angi gives $300 to $2,500. Fixr gives a typical $450 to $1,200, with a full range of $300 to $3,000. Modernize gives $614 to $1,309 installed. A large picture window or a bay costs far more than a small bathroom slider.

What does it cost to replace windows in a whole house?

A whole house of windows usually runs into the thousands or low tens of thousands, by national figures. HomeAdvisor lists these whole-house ranges:

WindowsHomeAdvisor whole-house range
8 to 10$3,200 to $7,000
10 to 15$4,000 to $10,500
15 to 25$6,000 to $17,500
25 to 40$10,000 to $28,000

Fixr puts a single-story home with 10 to 15 windows at $8,000 to $12,000, and a two-story home with 15 to 30 windows at $12,000 to $24,000. Angi says most projects run $3,436 to $11,838, with an average of $7,348. This Old House gives an average project of $7,183 for 7 windows. Many Fresno homes are single-story ranch houses, but the count and size of the windows still decide the total.

How much do vinyl windows cost?

Vinyl windows are among the lower-cost frames, but the guides measure them differently. HomeAdvisor and Angi list a vinyl unit at $100 to $900. Fixr lists vinyl at $350 to $800. Modernize lists a vinyl double-hung at $391 to $834. This Old House gives an average of $472 for vinyl. Other frames, by HomeAdvisor's unit prices:

FrameHomeAdvisor unit price
Aluminum$75 to $400
Vinyl$100 to $900
Wood$150 to $1,300
Composite$300 to $1,200
Fiberglass$500 to $1,500

What is the labor cost to install a window?

Labor usually runs about $100 to $300 per window for a standard retrofit, by national guides. HomeAdvisor gives $100 to $300 for retrofit and $150 to $800 for full-frame, or $40 to $65 an hour. Angi gives $100 to $300 per window and $600 or more for complex installs. Modernize gives $70 to $150. Fixr says labor is about 30% of the total. In Fresno, stucco repair after a full-frame job adds to the labor.

How much does a sliding patio door cost?

A sliding patio door costs about $1,000 to $4,000 installed by most national guides, and more for wood. HomeAdvisor says a sliding glass door runs $1,000 to $3,000 installed, with a patio door replacement average of $2,500. Fixr gives an average of $2,756 for a 72 by 80 inch slider, with a range of $2,000 to $4,000. Modernize gives $1,070 to $2,690.

How much does a bay or bow window cost?

Bay and bow windows are the most expensive common styles. HomeAdvisor puts a bay window at $910 to $7,100 and a bow at $1,500 to $6,500, materials only. Fixr gives $900 to $4,500 for a bay and $1,500 to $8,000 for a bow. Modernize gives $1,732 to $3,690 for a bay and $1,810 to $3,859 for a bow. Support framing and a small roof can add to the job.

Why are window quotes so different?

Window quotes differ because companies are not pricing the same thing. One may quote a retrofit, another a full-frame job with stucco repair. Frames, glass coatings and grids vary. Some include permits, haul-away, trim and screens and some do not. Ask each company for the price per window, the install method, the frame and the NFRC numbers in writing, then compare line by line.

Will new windows lower my energy bills?

New windows can lower your cooling bills, but no one can tell you how much without knowing your house. In Fresno, most of the gain comes from low-E glass that blocks the sun's heat on west and south walls. How much you save depends on the old windows, the shade, the insulation, the AC and your PG&E rate. We do not promise a savings figure.

Are there rebates or tax credits for windows?

The federal tax credit for windows has ended. The IRS says the 25C energy credit is not allowed for any property placed in service after December 31, 2025, so a 2026 window job does not qualify. When it existed, it covered 30% of the cost up to $600 for windows that met ENERGY STAR Most Efficient. We know of no current PG&E window rebate; check pge.com before you count on one.

Is it cheaper to replace all windows at once?

Replacing several windows at once often lowers the cost per window, because the trip, the set-up and the permit are shared. A crew that is already set up can move from one opening to the next without a second trip. One catch in California: replacing more than 75 square feet of windows under the 2025 energy code means tighter U-factor and SHGC limits, which can narrow the glass choices.
